Sea Rescue Tasmania Inc

The operational area covered by Sea Rescue Tasmania includes

Frederick Henry Bay, Norfolk Bay, Storm Bay,

Pittwater, Blackman and Marion Bays.

Sea Rescue Tasmania became affiliated with Surf Life Saving Australia in 2007.

Originally operating under the banner of the NSW based Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol, the Volunteer Marine Rescue group became incorporated as Sea Rescue Tasmania Inc. in 2004.

In April 2006 Sea Rescue Tasmania celebrated the 15th anniversary of its founding in April 1991.

Operating from its purpose built Head Quarters in Dodges Ferry, Sea Rescue Tasmania is also affiliated with the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard.

The membership, currently 25 dedicated volunteers, give their time willingly to assist the boating public, being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Sea Rescue Tasmania has provided assistance to the boating public for over 15 years (see Statistics).

Our Operational Area

With over 6,000 recreational boats using these waterways, serviced by two of the four most used boat ramps in the State,
Sea Rescue Tasmania provides a much needed service to the recreational boating public of south east Tasmania.

Calls for assistance can result from a simple breakdown, such as running out of fuel, mechanical failure, a flat battery, or more serious incidents such as medical emergencies, boat fires, capsizes and vessels sinking.

Our role is diverse; there is never a dull moment. If you interested in knowing more about Sea Rescue Tasmania Inc., or would like to become a volunteer, or a sponsor, call one of our Committee Members or drop into our Headquarters on any Wednesday evening after 8pm.
