Education and Training

Sea Rescue Tasmania trains its own volunteers, as well as members of the boating public, in a variety of maritime related areas.

Members of Sea Rescue Tasmania are qualified Trainers and Assessors, holding either the qualification Cert IV in Assessment and

Workplace Training, or the new Training and Assessment (TAA) qualification.

Below is a list of some of the courses on offer.

  • Know your motor

  • Know how to operate your VHF radio

  • Small craft proficiency, and

  • Marine Radio Operator's Certificate of Proficiency (MROCP)
  • Marine Radio Operator's VHF Certificate of Proficiency (MROVCP)

Current Training Courses

Marine Radio Operator's VHF Certificate of Proficiency courses (MROVCP) are conducted over a weekend, taking 12 hours of instruction including revision and the examination for the issue of a MROVCP.

Sea Rescue Tasmania Inc. is also accredited with Marine and Safety Tasmania to offer:
