Marine Radio Operators VHF Certificate of Proficiency

The next MROVCP/MROCP Course:- (Sat ? March - Sun ? March 2009)

This weekend course covers the syllabus for the Marine Radio Operator's VHF Certificate of Proficiency (MROVCP) and the Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency (MROCP).

The course will be held from 9.00am to 4.00pm, Saturday and Sunday, at Dodges Ferry and includes the examination
for the MROVCP and MROCP.

Contact either  Ms Cheryl Piper,  Michael Collinson, or send an email to searescue@bigpond.com  for details and an

application form.

The Marine Radio Operators VHF Certificate of Proficiency

The MROVCP is the minimum mandatory qualification for anyone operating marine VHF radio equipment.

If your boat has a marine VHF radio fitted then the Radio Regulations require that you hold a Marine Radio Operators

VHF Certificate of Proficiency in order to operate the radio.

The correct use of  marine radio communication is vital during Distress, and Search and Rescue incidents to ensure

that information is passed efficiently and effectively.

The best mode of communication in the coastal waters around Tasmania is via VHF radio.

Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST) have installed a network of VHF repeaters around the coast line of Tasmania.

Knowledge of the channels and how to use the repeaters could be vital to your safety and that of other boat users.
