Training Course Program for 2008

Our training courses are delivered by qualified and experienced trainers.

MROVCP  - Marine Radio Operators VHF Certificate of Proficiency

The next MROVCP radio course will be held on: Saturday and Sunday (TBA) March 2009

Marine Radio Operator's VHF Certificate of Proficiency courses (MROVCP) are run over Saturday and Sunday:

 

This course will be held at 4 Tiger Head Road, Dodges Ferry, subject to numbers of participants.

There are 15 places available on the course.

A separate course is held, usually in July, at the AVCGA Base in Swansea.

Course Duration

Each course is conducted from 9am - 4pm on the Saturday and Sunday; total 12 hours including the examination from 4.30 - 5pm on the Sunday. The course leads to the MROVCP Examination, which is a half hour multiple choice written examination, from 3.30 - 4pm on the Sunday.

Examination

The examination papers are prepared and marked by the Office of Maritime Communications of the Australian Maritime College.

Certificates

Successful candidates receive the Marine Radio Operators VHF Certificate of Proficiency (MROVCP) issued by the Office of Maritime Communications of the Australian Maritime College.

Qualification

The MROVCP is the minimum mandatory qualification for anyone operating marine VHF radio equipment.

Fees

The course Fee is currently $180.00. This includes the AMC Marine Radio VHF Operators Handbook, and the Examination Fee.

A two hour session providing an understanding of VHF marine radio and EPIRB operation, designed to help your boating family effectively operate a VHF marine radio and EPIRB in an emergency.

The session includes practical demonstrations covering the operation of the controls, selection of appropriate channels, squelch and power level and provides a clear understanding of the function of each control.
